OUR LUNCH PROGRAM

 

We are so excited to be sharing meals with your children each day!  Here at Blue River, your children are trying new things and asking more questions about their food.  We enjoy sharing our meals with your children and we believe that teaching them about good nutrition and making healthy food choices is as important as teaching them academics.  Maria Montessori taught us that the brain is still developing until the age of six; during this formative period, the child has an "absorbent mind" that is thirsty for knowledge.  We believe that this is the time to expose your children to a variety of things, academics, language, music, and yes, even food! 

 

At Blue River, we are excited to share with you the following updates to our food program:

  • Produce is organic

  • Eggs are from chickens raised cage-free

  • Poultry is from free-range organic chicken

  • Beef is from 100% grass-fed, grass-finished, and pasture-raised cattle

  • Pork is from heritage-breed pigs raised with bedding in open barns and with outdoor access

 

When we started our food program many years ago, we were excited to have the opportunity to share healthy foods with your children.  As our food program developed, we moved to mostly-organic produce.  We are now excited to offer free-range organic poultry, grass-fed and grass-finished beef, and heritage-breed pork.  We are committed to supporting farms that humanely raise their animals using sustainable farming practices.
